Holograms Video in Japanese

So … I normally sell, like, 10 copies of my iPhone app “Holograms” per day. It’s not a huge seller but I’m happy that people keep on buying it. But on Saturday, 241 people bought Holograms! I looked into it and saw that they were almost all coming from Japan. Why are they buying it? I have no idea.
But if a country is willing to buy over two hundred copies of one of my app on a single day, that ought to be commemorated in some way. And since I happen to sort of speak Japanese (not great, but hey, better than George Takei) I decided to try to make this demo video in Japanese. I also added English subtitles in case any English speakers were curious.

Very cool. Any idea yet why so many copies were sold that day?
For some reason, you seem somewhat smarter when speaking Japanese. But what do I know. 8^D
BTW… how many Japanese speaking parts have you done for Pixar? Was that your voice when Russell was messing around with Dug’s collar with the different languages?

I have no idea why it sold so many. I couldn’t find any recent articles about Holograms in Japanese, but maybe I just missed it.
I’ve had people say my voice sounds quite different when I speak Japanese, but you’re the first to say I sound smarter. =)
Also, I’ve only ever done one voice for Pixar and that was the Japanese car in the Tokyo Mater short film. It was lots of fun to do.

Oh, that was you in Tokyo Mater, the car that challenges him to race? Cool!
And yes, your voice does sound different when speaking Japanese. It sounds deeper to me, but I didn’t know if that was a characteristic of speaking the language in general, or just you. 8^)
The only comparison I can make is speaking Klingon, which requires about a two octave drop for correct pronunciation. It always makes me feel like I’m hacking up a lung.

You speak Klingon?! Now that is a video I’d like to see.
